adv daririb, BB 19 b 41 . Fen. 248 § 5 . Acall. 1392 . darírib, LB 274 a 27 . TSh. Donlevy xv. 4 . dárírib, Fianaig. 78. 12 . Donlevy 130. 25 ; 250. 8 ; 430. 22 . dharírib, Donlevy 230. 9 ; Bedel. doririb, IT iii 86. 13 (rhyming with mílid); cf. do ríreadh, Lhuyd. Also dáiríre, MPIS p. 142 , identical with Sc. da rìreadh. The stress falls on the middle syllable. To judge from the spoken language the first two syllables are long. The phrase seems to contain the preposition de and the dative (sg. and pl.) of fíre, compare the affirmative tria ḟírib: ocht gcéd don tsluagh churata dororchair liom tria ḟírib perished by me in truth Duan. F. 88 st 43 , and such phrases as ar fír, Acall. 5824 ; de ḟír in truth, ib. 4137 ; iar fír, 5606 , &c., but the origin of the first r is obscure.

Séadna¹ 136. 21 ). an dá ríribh atáoi tú are you in earnest? do you mean it? In Munster also dáiríripíre (possibly from dáríribh fíre). Also Sc. da ríribh according to Macd. 762 b (thus always at Poolewe). M`Alpine's da rìdheadh (p. 210) is a mistake for da rìreadh, and the spelling d'arrighribh (p. 98) invented by himself.
