Forms: dóig, dóig, dáig, doich, doich, doig, dochu, dóig

adj (dóich ?) Mid.Ir. dóig ( doaig, Cáin Ad. § 46 v.l., RC xxv 35.36 ; dóig: Róim, Gorm. March 14 ; dáig: cāid, Gorm. Feb. 21 ). Acc. to Pedersen Vgl. Gr. i 494 , ii 666, orig. same word as 1 toich and developed from it through nasalization in the common O.Ir. formula in doich? is it likely? perhaps ; a view contested by Thurn., IF Anz. xxvii 17 , Bergin, ZCP vii 513 , Meyer, Ériu vi 109 . Confusion could also have arisen after -s of copula (1 is). In O.Ir. glosses written doich, doig, compar. dochu, but dóig, Sg. 30a8 .
