Cite this: eDIL s.v. 1 éim, ém or dil.ie/19799
Last Revised: 2013

Forms: ǽm, æm

in Glosses also ǽm, æm. Apparently a by-form of 1 ám (q.v.) of which it is often a variant reading. Used as a particle of asseveration or affirmation, usually emphasising the word or clause which it follows, but often merely expletive ; truly, indeed, in sooth, then .
