turchluide

Last Revised: 2013

n In legal phrase sét t.¤ , of stock granted by a lord to his client, apparently in addition to turchrecc and rath (q.v.), and equal in value to the client's honor-price. In Laws translated ` returnable sed'; `recoverable chattels ,' MacNeill, Law of status 270 . the value, or price, of fore-purchase, Stud. Hib. xxxiv 28 n. 44 . Thurn., ZCP xiv 339 - 40 , takes the word as gs. of a compd. of clód vanquish, suggesting that originally the relationship between lord and client was that between conqueror and conquered. Hence seoit t.¤ = `Lehnswerte, die die Besiegung vertreten,' `UnterwerfungsWerte.' Cf. the frequent gloss ar clo i tar (=tár), infra. See turchlu.
